Guidelines and the evidence hierarchy

This site is built to sound credible, not absolute. The evidence hierarchy explains why some pages carry stronger language than others, and why the limitations stay visible everywhere.

The treatment framework on this site is anchored to the AUA and EAU clinical guidelines. Those documents synthesize what specialists agree on; everything else, randomized trials, follow-up data, smaller observational studies, is layered on top with different weight.

Evidence tier maps directly to language strength. RestoreX content reads more confidently because the trial evidence is more specific. Vacuum therapy reads more cautiously because the evidence set is thinner. That isn't editorial preference; it's the source set doing its job.

The hierarchy used on this site

  1. Clinical guidelines (AUA, EAU): strong

Anchor the overall treatment framework. Highest confidence for the broad treatment landscape and acceptable options.

  2. Device-specific randomized trials: strong

RestoreX trial sits here. Supports confident language for the specific device, not for every device in its category.

  3. Non-randomized follow-up data: moderate

RestoreX follow-up extension. Adds durability context without the rigor of randomization.

  4. Smaller observational and supportive studies: limited

VED and other supportive sources. Receive cautious, measured framing on this site.

  5. Emerging or single-source signals: emerging

Noted as context only. No strong treatment language is drawn from this tier.

Stronger evidence: confident language

  • Direct, confident educational wording.
  • Outcome claims accompanied by trial-level context.
  • RestoreX traction pages reflect this tier.
  • Guideline references cited explicitly.

Thinner evidence: cautious language

  • Hedged, measured wording throughout.
  • Outcomes noted as supportive rather than definitive.
  • VED structural-outcome pages reflect this tier.
  • Limitations kept visible rather than minimized.

Stronger evidence is not the same as guaranteed outcomes, and device-specific evidence does not transfer to every device in the category. That is why the limitations stay visible on every page.
