This site is built around consent-first lead capture, minimal personal data collection, and controlled third-party sync, aligned with PIPEDA and CASL.
The privacy approach mirrors the editorial approach: collect only what's needed, store it carefully, and be transparent about where it goes. You opt in explicitly before any data is stored, and the consent record itself is part of what's saved.
Subscriber data is stored in a first-party database before it reaches any third-party service. Klaviyo handles the email operations once consent has been recorded; it doesn't receive data ahead of that step.
What this site collects, and why
Email address
Required to deliver the guides, updates, and emails you opt into.
Optional first name
Used for personalisation in email content. Skipping it is fine.
Page source
Records which page the subscription originated from so we can tell which pages are useful.
Consent details
Timestamp and consent version stored for compliance, and so we can prove consent if asked.
Basic attribution data
UTM parameters when present. Helps us understand which pages bring readers in. Not used for advertising profiles.
How your data flows
- You opt in explicitly via a form on a specific page.
- Submission is stored in our first-party database with the consent record.
- Klaviyo receives subscriber data only after local consent storage.
- You can unsubscribe at any time from any email we send.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent subscriber data.
- We don't pre-check consent boxes or imply consent from page visits.
- We don't pass data to third-party advertising networks.
- We don't store sensitive medical or identifying information.
Consent-first means you decide what we hold, and the record of that decision is part of what's stored.
