Treatment

Traction therapy

Traction therapy uses gentle, sustained mechanical stretching to reduce curvature and recover length in chronic Peyronie's disease.

RestoreX is the device with the strongest device-specific trial evidence on this site. The mechanism is mechanical, not pharmacological: sustained stretch over weeks gradually changes how the scar tissue affects the erect shape.

Traction is patient-led and used at home. It rewards consistency, not intensity. Results show up over months, not days.

What traction therapy does and does not do

  1. Best fit: chronic, stable disease

Most of the evidence is in men whose curvature has stopped changing. In the active phase, the conversation is usually different.

  2. Curvature reduction is the headline outcome

Studies report meaningful average improvement in degree of curve. The size of the change varies by individual and starting point.

  3. Length recovery is realistic, not unlimited

Some men do regain length. Honest care will not promise full restoration, but partial recovery is supported in the evidence.

  4. Routine matters more than time per session

Daily, consistent use over weeks is what the studies tested. Occasional long sessions are not the same intervention.

  5. Pain or active inflammation is a signal to pause

Traction is not designed to push through pain. If a session hurts, that is feedback worth taking to the clinician.

Next step

Discuss traction once the disease has stabilised, and ask whether your goals are curvature, length, or both.

Traction is most useful when phase, goals, and routine are matched. A clinician who works with Peyronie's regularly can tell you whether this is your moment.
