Vacuum erection device

VEDs are most useful for erection support and penile rehabilitation. Their role in shape correction is more limited.

A vacuum erection device draws blood into the penis using negative pressure, producing an erection that can be maintained with a constriction ring. In Peyronie's care, the conversation is usually about function, not curvature on its own.

Osbon VED is the featured vacuum-device product reference on this site, but the evidence language still stays cautious for Peyronie's structural outcomes.

Evidence for VED on structural outcomes is thinner than for traction therapy. Where VED earns its place is in rehabilitation and supporting erection quality alongside other treatments.

Where VED therapy fits

  1. Best fit: erectile rehabilitation

Useful when keeping erections functional is part of the plan, including after pelvic surgery or alongside ED.

  2. Modest, supportive role for shape

Some evidence suggests VED can contribute to mild structural improvement, but it is not the lead device for curvature.

  3. Often combined with other care

VED is rarely a stand-alone Peyronie's plan. It pairs with traction, injections, or post-surgical recovery depending on the case.

  4. Routine is moderate, not demanding

Daily or near-daily short sessions are typical. The protocol is forgiving compared with traction.

  5. A constriction ring is part of the system

The ring maintains the erection. Time-limited use is standard; leaving it on too long is the most common misuse.

Next step

Raise erection function explicitly during evaluation, and ask whether VED fits as a stand-alone or supportive option.

VED is more useful when the goal is named clearly. If function and shape both matter, the plan often includes more than one tool.
