Diagnosis
What to expect at your appointment
The first appointment is usually about understanding the pattern, staging the condition, and deciding what next step fits.
The visit may feel uncomfortable to think about, but the goal is straightforward: define what is happening and whether it is still changing.
Before the visit
- Write a short symptom timeline.
- Note pain, curvature, shortening, narrowing, plaque, and erection quality.
- List your most important questions.
- Do not worry about perfect angle measurements.
During the visit
- The clinician will ask about onset, progression, pain, sexual function, and possible injury.
- A physical exam may assess plaque or structural findings.
- The clinician may discuss whether the disease appears active or stable.
- Imaging may be ordered if it would change diagnosis or treatment planning.
- The visit may end with monitoring, treatment discussion, referral, or follow-up.
After the visit
- You should understand the likely diagnosis.
- You should know whether the condition seems active or stable.
- You should know what to watch for next.
- You should leave with a practical next step.
