When to see a urologist

A new or progressive penile deformity deserves professional evaluation sooner rather than later.

You do not need to wait until symptoms become severe. Earlier evaluation can establish a baseline, clarify whether the condition is active, and help preserve more options.

Reasons to book an evaluation

  1. A new or worsening curve

Any acquired bend deserves a baseline evaluation, especially if the change happened over weeks or months.

  2. Painful erections or a firm plaque

Pain and plaque can suggest active Peyronie's and help a clinician understand where you are in the disease course.

  3. Narrowing, indentation, or buckling

Hourglass change and hinge effect are functional signs, not cosmetic details.

  4. Shortening, girth loss, or difficulty with sex

Length, girth, penetration, and confidence all belong in the appointment.

  5. Erectile dysfunction alongside shape change

Erection quality may need its own plan, even when curvature is the most visible problem.

How to prepare

  • Write down when symptoms started.
  • Note whether the shape is still changing.
  • Track pain, erection quality, shortening, narrowing, and sexual function.
  • Bring your main questions in writing.

Booking an evaluation is not the same as committing to treatment. It gives you a baseline and a clearer frame.

Next step

Book with a urologist, ideally one comfortable with Peyronie's or men's sexual health.

There is no embarrassment in being early. Urologists evaluate this routinely, and it does not need to be a dramatic visit.
